“Xavi’s Arsenal of Young Talents: Barcelona Reserves Await Their Breakout Moment”

When Xavi and the Barcelona coaching staff were looking into the youth system to fill the void left by an injured Robert Lewandowski, they had two possibilities.

Marc Guiu, who scored the game-winning goal against Athletic Club last week, and Pau Victor, who was already on the squad list for the game against Granada.

Barça Atletic experienced an incredible comeback this past Sunday, with both players contributing to the reserve team’s stunning comeback against Osasuna Promesas.

While Guiu’s goal was lauded as the winner, Victor’s performance and contribution were not overlooked.

Victor a good candidate for Xavi

It must be noted that Xavi cannot count on the services of Guiu for the time being since the 17-year-old is on international duty for the FIFA U-17 World Cup which starts in a little over ten days.

Now, Lewandowski and Raphinha’s successful recoveries have narrowed the opening to get a place in the starting XI, but SPORT claims that Pau Victor remains ever-prepared for any forthcoming demands.

Victor, leading the scoring charts for Barça Atletic, boasts an impressive tally of six goals and two assists in nine matches played this season.

The forward is a versatile footballer capable of playing anywhere across the frontline, but has largely been used as a centre-forward by Rafa Marquez for Barça Atletic.

It must be noted that Pau Victor is currently on loan from Girona. With such consistent performances, however, it wouldn’t come as a surprise if Barcelona contemplated retaining his services, given their option to purchase him for €3 million.

He wants to make a difference

“My goal is to have a great year, try to make a difference, try to help the team as much as possible and, then, at the end of the year, Barça will value what they have to do with Girona,” said the youngster about his future as quoted by SPORT .

“I work for myself, to have a great year and be in the best possible position this year,” he added.

Should Xavi require an additional potent asset from his reserve team, he’s well-acquainted with Victor.

Despite not yet making his official debut, Xavi has observed his skills during training sessions and even called him ahead of the  Granada game.

And with Guiu not around in the next month or so, the first-team manager can turn to the 21-year-old Victor to add depth in the attacking unit.
