The Athletic reports that Tottenham Hotspur would probably target additions in the forward and center-back positions during the January transfer window.

Due to the Africa Cup of Nations (January 13 to February 11) and Asian Cup (January 12 to February 10), Spurs will be without Pape Matar Sarr, Yves Bissouma, and Son Heung-min for a few games in January and February. In order to make up for their absences, other players will need to be brought in.

Considering how important the Tottenham captain has been thus far in 2023–24, Ange Postecoglou’s team needs to add a top-notch left-sided forward or central striker during the winter transfer window if they are to maintain their strong start to the Premier League season.

After recent success with Rodrigo Bentancur, Dejan Kulusevski, and Pedro Porro in the last two winters, Spurs will need to find the right players for the job to get their recruitment spot on in the middle of the season. Technical director Johan Lange is also planning to add important members to the staff.

As chief scout for Aston Villa, Rob Mackenzie, a former Spurs scout who previously worked at the North London club from 2015 to 2016, will rejoin with Lange.

Villa’s head of research, Frederik Leth, is also expected to join Tottenham and reunite for a second time with Lange as both of them also worked together at Copenhagen.

The 28-year-old is very data-driven and has been with the Midlands club since January 2021.

Leth spent eight and a half years at Copenhagen, where he held positions as a Youth Scout, under-19 Performance Analyst, Technical Scout, Head of Technical Scouting and Analytics, Head of Scouting and Analytics, and Technical Director. His experience will be valuable to Tottenham.

His contributions have helped Villa play well on the field in recent seasons, and Spurs would gain a great deal from having him in their ranks.
