In the summer, Spence and fellow Spur Joe Rodon joined the Championship team on loan for the upcoming campaign. Though Spence has only made one appearance off the bench thus far (Transfermarkt), the latter has gone on to establish himself as a consistent starter in Farke’s lineup.
After an underwhelming debut campaign in N17, Spence would have been looking to regain his form at the Elland Road team. Sadly, he has not been able to play in a first-team game since suffering a ligament injury back in September.
Spence was in the last stages of his recuperation and should return to action soon, Leeds manager Farke had disclosed to Football.London a month earlier in late October. Spence was not used as a substitute in the team’s 3-1 victory over Swansea City and was not used in Saturday’s 3-2 triumph at home against Middlesbrough.
Farke stated: “Djed is also nearing the end of his rehabilitation.” “I am hoping that Stuart [Dallas] and Djed can both get back to team training soon. Djed was probably out for about eight weeks as well, so it is not like he will be ready for the game on the first day back; he still needs some training. But I am hoping that is pretty soon, in the coming days.
Farke is praising Spence’s demeanor.
“It was not a gift, Djed; since 11 or 12 days in training, you could see him growing from training session to training session,” Fake told the Yorkshire Evening Post. He is unable to give it his all after such a lengthy injury, but we believe he already deserves a spot in the squad.
“I was really impressed with how well-prepared he was for training. We chose to offer him as a possibility. He has a good chance of participating in game time in the coming weeks if he puts in that much effort every day to improve his rhythm, especially given his current level of fitness.

The fact that Spence is healthy and can now play regularly for Leeds is good news. Spence might be putting himself in the shop window for the rest of the season if Ange Postecoglou feels the young Englishman would not fit in with his system based on how the summer played out.
We stand to gain greatly if Spence performs well and raises his asking price. Hopefully, Spence can get the move he needs to restart his career if Leeds are promoted back to the top flight and he has a strong season finale.
