The young Portuguese international is currently on loan with Nottingham Forest and has appeared in three Premier League games thus far.

Despite being expected to return to duty after the international break, Tavares has missed the last three matchday squads in a row.

While it remains to be seen whether the 23-year-old is now ready to return to action, he is back in training, recently posting a picture of himself on Instagram Stories.

It will be a boost for the left-back, who is looking to prove himself after falling out of favour at Arsenal.

The former Benfica defender spent last season on loan at Marseille in Ligue 1, but fell out with boss Igor Tudor after a quarrel.

A permanent move was shelved as a result despite his return of six goals in 39 appearances in France.

Tavares also appeared to anger Gunners manager Mikel Arteta due to his furious reaction after he was withdrawn 34 minutes into the FA Cup game against Forest in January 2022.

He will be desperate to remain in the good books of manager Steve Cooper at the City Ground club going forward to boost his chances of earning a permanent move.

The Portuguese has three more years left on the long-term contract he signed upon joining Arsenal in the summer of 2021, but it is safe to say he has already played his last game for the North London club.

The Gunners have enough depth at the back right now and some of their youth players in the position have been tipped to break into the first-team soon.
