“Barcelona’s Bold Move: Pursuing £17M Wonderkid with Manchester City Dreams”

Joe Lee

That’s what SPORT in Spain says.

What is the current state of affairs between Savio and Manchester City? Let’s examine this.

What is the tale?

In June 2022, the Brazilian was signed by the City Football Group for a fee of €6.5 million (£5.5 million) from Atlético Mineiro.

The City Football Group then “assigned” Savio, sometimes known as Savinho, to Troyes as his entry point into European football, where he had a better chance of seeing action than at Manchester City.

The South American suffered on his loan to PSV Eindhoven in the 2022–2023 season, but he is currently excelling while on loan at Girona, another team in the City Football Group.

Savio has helped Girona finish second in La Liga this season with three goals and four assists in 11 appearances.

Because of Savio’s great season debut, SPORT believes Xavi is eager to add a new left winger and has highlighted Savio’s name in the Camp Nou offices.

The 19-year-old’s development at Girona has even increased his value to €20 million (£17 million), according to the Spanish news source.

Manchester City is on Savio’s mind.

The adolescent is aware of how the City Football Group operates: Manchester City is the ultimate destination if you perform well at Troyes, Girona, Palermo, Melbourne City, or any other team in the group.

Naturally, Savio is interested in moving to the Etihad Stadium and believes that if he keeps up his present level of play, he will attract Pep Guardiola’s attention.

The South American told MARCA: “The City Group is a very good project. I was at PSV, now in Girona. At PSV I didn’t play as much, but I learned a lot. I have to thank PSV for opening the doors to me, because the things I learned there have helped me be well at Girona today.

“The City Group’s project is first class, and I think that if I do well, Manchester City will want me.”

If Savio keeps performing and helps Girona qualify for Europe, it will surely be hard for Guardiola to ignore his progress
