Barcelona captain Sergi Roberto is almost ready to return from injury after missing more than a month of games.

The 31-year-old utility player missed more than five weeks of play after sustaining an injury to the soleus muscle in his right leg in mid-October.

Getting medical clearance soon

However, it has been reported by SPORT that Roberto will be added back to the roster for this week’s UEFA Champions League match against FC Porto.

Due to the aforementioned muscle issue, the 31-year-old versatile right-back has already missed the last seven Blaugrana games.

The first captain of Barça will practice with the team today, and all indications are that he will be given the all-clear to play in the midweek match.

Roberto’s return will be welcomed as the club prepares for a crucial Champions League match, especially after their loss to Shakhtar Donetsk earlier this month.

With Gavi sidelined for the whole of the season, it gives Xavi additional alternatives in midfield and at right back.

Marc Casado will also be accessible.

The availability of teenage midfielder Marc Casado will be a plus for Xavi going into the midweek match.

The captain of Barça Atletico was serving a suspension with the reserve team this weekend, which prevented him from playing for the senior squad. As a result, he was unavailable to play against Rayo Vallecano.

On the squad list, he will, however, take Unai Hernandez’s position as the latter is not enrolled for the competition. He will be available for the Champions League match.
