Ramsdale was taken aback by Arsenal’s summer loan signing of David Raya from Brentford, even though it’s been reported that the Gunners have already decided to pay £27 million to make the agreement permanent.

During the international break, Nick Ramsdale, the father of the player, questioned why his son was given a new contract in May when the intention was to sign Raya three months later and chastised Arteta for how he handled the goalkeeping position at Arsenal.

It is accurate and true that Mikel Arteta desired David Raya beyond all else. “My only issue is that Mr. Arteta stated he wanted Aaron when we spoke over the phone before he signed Aaron,” Nick Ramsdale stated.

However, as you may know, David Raya is back on the market and has David Raya with him. He will be purchased [after his loan].

“I don’t know [where that leaves Aaron] because he just signed a new contract that is for four years, or three years with a 12-month option.” Why would you give a goalie, or any player, a contract extension, then [sign another goalie] two or three months later?

Aaron was unaware that he would not be continuing to play, and neither was I, our family, or Aaron themselves. Suddenly, he’s not being played.

“Aaron, and any player who is playing less than he wanted, there are many unfortunately in a dressing room of 24 players. Their behavior that we demand and we expect is to constantly challenge and make each other better, and always have the purpose and ability to overcome the situation and play and show with facts that you have to play, and you have to play more and how wrong I am and [think] “how can I help the team when it is necessary?” Arteta said in response to questions regarding Ramsdale’s father’s remarks.

When asked if he thought Ramsdale’s lack of playing time could make him rusty against Brentford this coming Saturday, Arteta said, “He played a few weeks ago, I don’t expect it.” Just as I don’t with any other participant.

We are aware of Brentford’s threat both on set plays and direct plays because of the manner they play, which involves attacking with a lot of numbers in the box.

“There are several ways in which a team can pose a threat; they are a formidable team with excellent coaching,”
