Thiago Alcantara, a midfielder for Liverpool, is apparently someone FC Barcelona is looking to recruit in January as a temporary replacement for the injured Gavi.
A return to Catalonia has been suggested for the 32-year-old Spanish international in recent months, ahead of his anticipated departure from Anfield in 2024 upon the expiration of his contract.
And now, Sport claims that Barcelona may make a move for their erstwhile midfield sensation in January to take Gavi’s position. Gavi has been sidelined for the whole campaign following an ACL tear sustained while playing for Spain.
Thiago, who was signed for £25 million in 2020, has spent the most of his time at Liverpool recovering from injuries. Because of his most recent fitness problem, the midfield player has not even made an appearance for the Reds this season.
Because Thiago’s contract is set to expire at the conclusion of this season, Liverpool may benefit from a January sale if Barcelona is prepared to pay a transfer price for the 32-year-old star.
Even if Thiago recovers from his injury, Liverpool is apparently anticipating the midfield player to depart in 2024, so selling in January might be the smartest course of action for everyone involved.

Even though the technically gifted midfielder has had some unbelievable moments of magic, Thiago’s tenure at Liverpool hasn’t exactly gone as planned.
