After almost eight years with Arsenal, Mohamed Elneny may depart during the January transfer window.

TEAMtalk claims that Arsenal may be able to get rid of Elneny before he leaves for nothing.

In January, given Thomas Partey’s continued injury concerns, Arsenal is anticipated to be searching for a new midfield player.

Even though new players are being connected, there may be a midfield exodus from Arsenal.

Mohamed Elneny could be sold by Arsenal in January.

According to TEAMtalk, Mohamed Elneny, an Arsenal midfielder, could be sold when the transfer window opens.

The 31-year-old moved from Basel to Arsenal back in the January transfer window in 2016.

Elneny’s contract expires at the end of the season, therefore it might be time for him to leave.

Saudi Arabian teams are reportedly interested in signing him, therefore Arsenal might allow him to go for a little sum of money before he departs for nothing.

The interested clubs appear to be aiming to sign the Egyptian for a cheap fee, since they are targeting a January transfer.

Mikel Arteta would let Elneny leave with a heavy heart

Elneny has played just one minute of Premier League action this season, coming off the bench in the 90th minute against Sheffield United last month.

It’s clear that Elneny isn’t a key player at Arsenal, and in normal circumstances, we would suggest that losing a fringe player of this ilk isn’t a big deal.

Mikel Arteta is a big fan of Elneny though, and has previously called him Arsenal’s ‘glue player’, suggesting that he ‘brings everybody together’.

Arteta added that Arteta is ‘really important’ for the squad, even if he doesn’t play many games for Arsenal.

That situation isn’t going to go on forever though, and Elneny may now jump at the chance to play regularly in Saudi Arabia in 2024.

That would seemingly be a big miss for Arteta’s squad structure, and a departure would only increase Arsenal’s need for a midfield signing.
