Trevoh Chalobah of Chelsea is attracting interest from Tottenham Hotspur, but Ange Postecoglou wants a new center defender.

According to a report from Sky Sports, Tottenham is reportedly pulling out of the competition for Chalobah.

On deadline day, Tottenham reportedly made contact with Chelsea regarding a loan agreement for Chalobah, 24, according to Fabrizio Romano.

It seems like Spurs’ interest in signing Chalobah in January is waning, despite reports that they were still ready to negotiate a deal.

Tottenham Hotspur stifle interest in Trevoh Chalobah

According to Sky Sports, Tottenham is now pulling out of the competition to acquire Chalobah.

Spurs may be worried about Chalobah’s injury status in advance of the January transfer window, according to reports.

Due to a hamstring issue, Chalobah will be sidelined until January and will have been absent for six months.

Teams appear turned off by that; according to German media, Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich have similar feelings about Chalobah.

Tottenham is reportedly no longer interested in Chalobah and is instead searching elsewhere for a new defense.

Chalobah and Chelsea will both suffer from that, since Mauricio Pochettino is rumored to be planning to sell him in January.

Instead, who might Tottenham aim for?

Instead of concentrating on a right-footed defender like Chalobah, we believe Tottenham will target a left-footed defender.

Micky van de Ven has been outstanding this season but needs cover and competition in the left-sided centre back spot.

Bournemouth’s Lloyd Kelly seems to be the ideal target for us; English, left-footed, Premier League experience, still some untapped potential and coming towards the end of his contract.

Add in that he already knows Tottenham coach Matt Wells from their time together at Bournemouth and this move makes tons of sense.

Another name entered the fray on Tuesday with Tottenham allegedly scouting Union Saint-Gilloise defender Koki Machida.

The 26-year-old is another left-footer with pace and Postecoglou’s knowledge of Japanese players could make him a January target over Chalobah.
